In State Recruiting

Every head coach that has ever been hired at Indiana University, regardless of sport, has always stressed the importance of recruiting the best in-state athletes into their program. However, that doesn't always mean they've made it their top priority to do so. Sometimes it just turns out to be lip service. But one quick look at new IU basketball Coach Kelvin Sampson's actions this spring will show you that he's serious when he says he wants the "best players in Indiana to come to Indiana". This is an important thing to me because for the past couple of years, Indiana has produced dome of the best blue chip basketball players in the nation and Indiana has gotten none one of them, A.J. Ratliff. Players like Josh McRoberts, Greg Oden, and Luke Zeller would have been a perfect fit for the IU program however, Davis thought that getting players out of Georgia, Alabama, and Floridda were more important. Go get 'em Sampson.

D.J. White

Yes, I am glad that DJ White is coming back to the Hoosiers next year but I want to know why there was even a question to why he would have left in the first place. Yes, I know that he liked Davis a lot but does he like him enough to sit out another year after sitting out this year? I have never heard of anyone sitting out two full years after being the freshman of the year of a conference. So yes I love that he is coming back but why was there a question?

Robert Vaden

With all the talk about Robert vaden leaving and following his coach as he calls him, I cant hate on him for doing that but for all the fans who think that we need him are wrong. Dont get me wrong I did like him on the court most of the time but he is very very repplaceable. Think of what we will be missing when he leaves. We will be missing about 7 tournovers a game and 20-30 shots a game with 17-24 of those shots were ill-advised threes. He will probably be a good player at UAB but with the quality of players that we already have and will have in the future, UAB can keep him. Oh by the way, LOSE SOME F*@#!ING WEIGHT fatass!

Kelvin Sampson

Indiana is one of those special places where you say 'basketball', and Indiana is an automatic word association. "Every coach sees it as a great basketball state with tremendous high school coaches and players, and we will do our best to keep those players in the state." So I dont know if I am in the minority here but I think that this was a great hire for the IU program. Kelvin Sampson is a name that high school kids know and have respect for. He is a two time national coach of the year and always gets his teams into the NCAA tournament, something that IU fans have been embarrassed about for the last couple of years. Also, he wins 20 games a year consistantly. This resume is exactly what we needed to fill the empty spot on the sidelines. I cant wait to see coach Sampson filling that spot.
